The pump has an air blower, which provides air for the tub’s 120 bubble jets. The air blower can also be used to inflate the tub during setup, and it includes a pressure gauge to help you avoid overinflating the tub. The valves built into the tub should let you inflate it easily, and they prevent air from escaping when you disconnect the hose. A specialized tightening wrench is included in the package, which lets you tighten the valve setting to prevent growing leaks over time.
To finish our guide on inflatable hot tubs, is important to note that all manufacturers do not sell their hot tubs with sitting sets, not to mention the models that do not include covers. Let take a look on some models of extra accessories that can make your experience even more complete inside the hot tub as well as tips to whether you should purchase them or not.
Try to imagine how big that actually is. Get a tape measure out and use it to gauge the size. A better idea is to mark the inner diameter out on the ground. Use a rope or a garden hose to physically map out the size. When you have your circle on the ground, sit in it. Ideally get some others to do the same. You should be able to get a good idea of how many people you personally would feel comfortable with.
If you are searching for ways to relax your body without going out of the house, then a warm bath can be a good idea. Having a hot tub at home is indeed a great investment because it will not only help you revamp the style of your house but it can also be a great source of relaxation. But instead of having the usual hot tub, you can think of purchasing the portable ones so you can somehow lessen your expenses while enjoying the same benefits.
As in the case of the combination pool table and ping-pong table, those who get both truly get neither. If you want to play both pool and ping-pong, the best solution is to get both tables. Whichever game you feel like playing at the moment, you’ll be able to play to the fullest. Likewise, when you have an in-ground pool and a portable hot tub, you’ll be able to use both to perfection. High-end portable hot tubs are an improvement over combination hot tubs in the following ways:
Have you ever set in a pre-fabricated hot tub? If so, you’re probably familiar with the built-in bucket seats. Unfortunately, with the inflatable tubs, you’re not going to have built-in seats. However, as we mentioned, the entire tub offers soft cushioning, so in all actuality, while built-in bucket seats would have been nice, it’s really not needed.
Have you been wondering whether you should invest in a portable hot tub with water jets? We’ve been looking at the SaluSpa Hawaii HydroJet which offers water jets as well as bubble jets so you can get the best of both worlds. We thought we would give you an overview of this hot tub and give you a list of pros and cons so that you can decide whether it might be the best portable hot tub for you. Read our full product review here.
The design of an inflatable hot tub is simple. It consists of an inflatable tub made of PVC or vinyl, as well as an external combination pump and heater unit that controls both water temperature and jets. Inflatable hot tubs can generally be set up in 15 or 20 minutes and filled from a garden hose. Most of them can heat water up to comfortably hot temperatures overnight. Even though the basics are the same across the models listed here, there are some key factors to consider in your buying decision.
Size, electrical compatibility and extra features are some of the details that must be further analyzed and compared when you are choosing the best inflatable hot tub to suit your needs. While two models may be quite pair to one each other in excellence, the specific scenario where you will have to install the tub can pose the water shed decision maker.
The soft but non flimsiness of inflatable hot tubs may be a hit or miss depending on the consumer. But a lot of people who have sat in $6000+ hot tubs have actually preferred the softer feel of inflatable tubs to the concrete, plastic and other mashups of portable hot tubs. Inflatable hot tubs are soft but firm, and really provide a relaxing feel compared to portable hot tubs. This is of course based on individual tastes, so take that with a grain of salt. Inflatable hot tubs also inflate and deflate pretty quickly, so that is less time waiting around for it to reach max capacity so you can start filling it with water. But portable hot tubs don’t have this waiting period at all, and if you’re the type that is in a rush that extra time it takes to inflate can really make a difference.
It measures 71 inches in width, 71 inches in length, and 28 inches in height, being easy to find a location for it on your porch or patio. As it weighs only 76.5 pounds, you won’t have any trouble moving it around. The tub is made with polyester laminated PVC, a construction which ensures this is a puncture-resistant product that you will benefit from using for many years. For your comfort in use, the floor is cushioned, so you will feel like you are sitting on a cloud when you are inside it. Furthermore, it features a digital control panel that enables you to easily change the temperature and other settings as you please.

Inflatable hot tubs differ from one model to another. It is best to read the installment instructions first for a smooth assembly of the equipment. Sometimes, what makes the greatest inflatable hot tub outstanding is how you construct it. If it comes with installation DVD, you might also need to watch it. A lot of YouTube videos related to this matter are posted online, too. But, if all else fails, you can always turn to their customer service.

If you are looking for an affordable and feature-rich inflatable hot tub, the Coleman Lay Z Spa could be a good choice. Made of durable fabric-coated cover, it is a resilient option with a cushioned floor for added comfort. The drain valve is conveniently placed and the tub has luxury features such as the Lay-Z massage feature, which is an added advantage. With the well-reputed Coleman name, you can be assured of a durable product. The integrated filter also helps to maintain the cleanliness of the tub.

Unlike traditional spas, inflatable models do not experience many leaks or blockages of tubing. Due to the PVC material, sealing is much easier than with fibreglass and makes these issues less likely to take place. Inflatable tubs are also very simple to access for maintenance, so you will not need to cut or remove any parts of your home in order to get to the area that needs attention.

The 2 massage functions and 2 water treatment that comes built-in to this spa makes SaluSpa Hawaii Hydrojet the best inflatable hot tub when it comes to features. You get to choose between two types of jets to give you either a light or pressurized massage. The treatment system even allows you to forego using chemical chlorine altogether. It is a high-end model and the experience you get is more than worth its price point.
Just like regular hot tubs, inflatable models require some maintenance work to be done for them to be safe to use. The good news is that it does not take long to perform any of the maintenance tasks typical for inflatable hot tubs, and these tasks do not require you to put a lot of effort into them either. There is a total of 4 chores that you cannot skip on, chores that we will explain here.
Once inflated, this portable spa has a dimension of 77 x 28 inches. It has enough height to easily get in or get out of the tub. The side walls are 20 inches thick, allowing one to sit comfortably on the side as well. On the same note, the sides are very sturdy because of a PVC-like material installed inside the walls. This ensures that the unit remains sturdy and firm.
Size, electrical compatibility and extra features are some of the details that must be further analyzed and compared when you are choosing the best inflatable hot tub to suit your needs. While two models may be quite pair to one each other in excellence, the specific scenario where you will have to install the tub can pose the water shed decision maker.
A quality inflatable hot tub can last for years. They are made of sturdy material and can withstand temperatures of up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and more. The sturdy material comes in handy when heavy people are using the hot tub. So if you are large, you don’t have to worry that the hot tub will deflate from your weight. They are sturdy and can take a lot of wear and tear. They are firm and will hold you no matter what position you are in when using them. You can lean back or stand up, and the hot tub will stay strong. You can also get a tub that can support the weight of as many as four people, so you get to share your hot tub fun with friends and family.
One of the most important factors when purchasing a hot tub is the warranty. Most tubs are built to be portable and comfortable, not necessarily to be durable. Therefore, most manufacturers cover the pump and the heater with a 1-year warranty and the tub pool with a 30-to 90-day warranty. As such, if you are looking to make this kind of an investment, make sure you choose one that offers a longer warranty period. However, with proper care and maintenance, it should last for months even years.
The tub has Rapid Heating System that will allow your water temperature to increase rapidly. This feature makes the tub ready, not just quickly, but also safely. The SaluSpa Miami can be heated up to a temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit. If you desire to preserve the temperature of the water inside the inflatable hot tub for an adequate amount of time, this tub comes with a cover to maintain optimal water temperature. This Rapid Heating System is pretty convenient for when you want to feel extra relaxed.
Of all the inflatable hot tubs we did a review here, this is the only one that has the ability to run more than 1 function at the same time. This functionality is more than enough to convince some people to decide on buying this model, including us. Being able to run your heater while the bubble jets are running is an awesome experience. With bubble jets and the high-pressure massage jets turned on, everyone soaking can experience the massage they want all at the same time, whether light or targeted.

It has 2 water treatment systems installed. The hard water treatment system keeps the water soft, which helps prevent the skin and hair from drying up. It also makes sure the unit remains in tip-top shape by preventing any chemical build ups which may damage it. We believe that this is an important feature, considering that this is a premium inflatable spa.
This product fit's the Coleman Lazy Spa very well. The cover does not fit over it very well so I suggest removing it before attaching the cover, otherwise it will just get knocked loose when you remove the cover, and you will have to put it back on. We set a small light on it and two 12oz adult beverages, and had no problems with it being unstable. I will probably purchase one more.
We refer to a hot tub as regular when you can install it in your home just like a bathtub. It comes with massage jets and works with hot water just like the ones in spas. A lot has to be done for this hot tub to work. Its because you put in connections like you are installing any other appliance in the home. It is permanent, and you cannot move it without enlisting the services of experts.

Of the 3 main inflatable hot tub brands, this hot tub is the largest and has the most bubble jets (140). With an 85-inch diameter and 290 gallon capacity, this Intex model provides more personal relaxation space than any other. More room means it is easier to stretch out and easier to sink down so that bubbling water is lapping around your shoulders. That said we think 4 people is the comfortable max.
Moving on to the Bestway hot tub model. The most popular complaint for this particular model is that the tub keeps deflating and leaking air. Even worse, when some of these customers contacted Bestway's customer service department, they were instructed to cut out the numbers that are printed on the side of the tub and send it in to them. This upset many customers as it required more damage to the tub but not a guarantee of replacement.

This model doesn’t only come with bubble jets. It actually has 8 high-powered massage jets installed, which the manufacturer labeled as hydro jets. These hydro jets are installed at the corners, 2 for each corner to be exact. You can set the pressure on the control unit and manually adjust the angle of the jets as well. This allows for more pressurized and targeted massage on specific parts of your body. Perfect for that aching lower back muscle.
In a worst case scenario the part that blows up the inflatable hot tub can malfunction, meaning that you’re left with a deflated piece of strong plastic. Portable hot tubs provide a great sense of security in that their main parts are the control panel and the heating element, which are all built into the tub itself. With inflatable hot tubs having a separate heater/blower, it takes something as simple as a person forgetting to pack it or that piece short circuiting to ruin everyone’s fun.
This is a big hot tub that measures 6 feet 4 inches across and 28 inches deep. It holds up to 265 gallons of water and is big enough to hold four to six adults at a time. The exterior is made of a bright green synthetic leather. It comes with a fitted top cover made of the same durable material and a foil lining that helps retain heat. Its vertical beam construction and vertical vinyl panels inside the tub offer plenty of support, so the tub shouldn’t lose its shape over time. A cushioned ground cover adds to the comfort of what is already a very relaxing tub. The ground cloth, of course, also protects the tub from debris on the ground underneath. The combination pump and heater come with digital controls and heat the tub up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. With a heating rate of 2 degrees per hour, the water will need to heat overnight to reach its maximum temperature. You’ll have to think ahead to start heating the water a day before you want to use it. The pump’s air blower performs two functions: providing air to the tub’s 120 bubble jets and inflating the tub during setup. An included pressure gauge helps you avoid overinflating, and an included tightening wrench is specially designed to tighten the valve setting to prevent leaking over time.
The first task in researching hot tubs was finding some of the best inflatable hot tubs on the market, through in-depth online research. We found a lineup of tubs we felt best served our readers and then compared them to discover which was the best overall and which tubs would be best for families. After extensive research we were able to write about them in a way that will help you find the tub that works best for you.
Measuring 6 feet 4 inches across, the 28-inch deep Lay-Z-Spa holds up to 254 gallons of water. The tub is made of two layers of PVC reinforced with a layer of polyester mesh in between. The tub features vertical beam construction, which adds additional support with vertical vinyl panels inside the inflatable tub wall, and the hot tub will easily support you if you lean against the tub wall. The tub has a synthetic leather exterior in bright Coleman green. The whole package weighs 86 pounds when unfilled, and as portable inflatable hot tubs go, that’s not bad.

Inflating your tub is easy, but you need to ensure that you do not end up over inflating it. Do not go overboard when doing it for the first time. Keep in mind that the factors like the direct sunlight and heat will increase the pressure. Therefore, you should not inflate it to the maximum – you can always add more air when you know it can handle more.
The more expensive of the two would definitely be portable, not only for the higher grade materials but also factoring in shipping weight. Portable hot tubs tend to weight more than 100 pounds and depending on where you want to put it may need special planning beforehand. This is because you have to factor in doorway size if you are putting it inside, and let’s not forget taking it up a flight of stairs. A lot of people opt to have a friend help, so there is a couple of bucks in that transaction as well-unless you have a really gracious friend that doesn’t mind helping you carry a 100+ pound hot tub with weird dimensions up a flight of stairs.

The Pump in the AirJet is designed at such a place that it becomes easier for you to reach it while still in the tub so that you will not have to be interrupted in the middle. The pump actually has a Heater combined with it to serve Warm Water without making any of extra sound. So as the pump is placed near to you, it was necessary for them to take care of the noise made by the pump and believe me when I say pump makes the least noise possible giving you the best experience.
In addition to the ground mat, valve wrench and pressure gauge, the Lay-Z-Spa also comes with one filter cartridge, a chemical floater, a patch kit and an instructional DVD that covers set-up and maintenance. The warranty is less generous than other models. It covers the heater pump for one year, but only covers the inflatable tub for 90 days and the accompanying hoses and fittings for a mere 30 days.
Of course, you’re limited to seating arrangement and positions when you choose the smaller hot tub. Because you get a less amount of space, you also get limited seating options and might make it hard for you if you want to recline or let another person join in the hot tub. If you want to lounge more comfortably, then a larger hot tub might be a better choice.

To help get a more accurate idea of how big the average inflatable hot tub is, firstly take a close look at the product image, make sure you like the look of what you see. Next you should closely consider the dimensions and the fact that what makes an inflatable spa well insulated are the thick walls of trapped air. These walls are on average around 10 inches thick.
We have been reviewing inflatable hot tubs since 2015. In that time we have spent more than 40 hours researching them to find the best portable hot tubs on the market. The best hot tub we found was the Coleman Lay-Z-Spa 54131E. The Coleman hot tub is attractive and built for durability with a synthetic leather exterior, polyester-mesh-enforced PVC walls and vertical beams to prevent it from buckling and bending after repeated use. It has 120 bubble jets and can heat to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and it can fit up to six adults.
This is where the portable hot tub may have a problem if it isn’t the type that can be dissembled. Carrying around a full sized hot tub to a new location in or around your home is not fun if you can’t break it down into smaller pieces. There will also be places that no matter what you do, it will never be able to go. This can be avoided by purchasing an inflatable system or a portable system that can be taken apart easily.
When referenced in films, TV, or social media, or pop culture, it's more often a hot tub we hear about than the more sophisticated sounding spa. If athletes are captured on social media cavorting after hours, it's in a hot tub, not a spa. Remember the old sketches on Saturday Night Live with Will Ferrell and Rachel Dratch as the "hot tub luh-vahs"? They often hung out at the Welshley Arms Motel's hot tub, where they would harass other guests with their psuedo-intellectual conversations and disgusting meat snacks. And the film Hot Tub Time Machine would never have had the same appeal as Spa Time Machine. Deep stuff to ponder next time you soak in your hot tub. Or spa.
You can always trust Coleman to offer a simple product for your portable outdoor needs, so it shouldn’t be surprising to find that they also offer an inflatable hot tub. This one is also very affordable at about $375. Quite a lot of Lazy Spa reviews mention that the Lazy Spa inflatable hot tub from Coleman isn’t all that different from the Lazy Spa hot tub from Bestway.
Lay Z Spa, now also known as SaluSpa, are categorized into 3 groups: AirJet, HydroJet, and HydroJet Pro. The AirJet series is their most basic and most affordable models. They have standard water filtration installed and air bubbles for massage jets. The Hydrojet and HydroJet Pro are their high-end models with additional water treatment system and additional massage jet type as well.
One of the common gripes about these spa’s is the fact that when you use the bubble massage system you can’t use the heater at the same time. The bubbles have a 30 minute auto shut off and in that time the temperature can drop a few degrees. The bubbles going through the water can make it feel a bit cooler too. To be fair this is an issue with most portable hot tubs with bubble jets. It’s easy to switch the heater back on as soon as the bubbles are finished but the temperature only rises a few degrees an hour.
Looks like a kiddie pool. Inflatable hot tubs don't have the range of features found on molded above-ground spas. Most don't even include seats, so users must sit directly on the floor with little room for their feet. Some models have rigid sides that snap into place to give the tub more structure, but others just look like a giant, tub-shaped balloon. Owners choose inflatable hot tubs for their low price and convenience, not their looks.
Chlorine tablets smell bad in the bucket and bad in the spa. Bromine is a little bit better, but I can still smell it on my skin and on my hair hours after soaking. Have you ever opened up your spa cover and detected the strong smell of chlorine?  That’s the smell of combined molecules, either chloramines or bromamines. Salt systems are much less likely to produce these foul smelling mutations of chlorine, because after a chlorine molecule is used up, it reverts back to salt, a.k.a. sodium chloride!
One thing to note about the Bestway Miami is that, unlike other inflatable hot tubs in this list, the Miami has bubble jets around only three quarters of the inside cirumference. This means there is a section inside the hot tub where there are no direct bubbles. You still get water swirling around you. Just no direct contact with the bubble jets. On the upside, some customers say this is a good thing. Having a section with no direct bubbles caters for those that don't like bubbles, or can give you a break from them without getting out.
There are accessories that you can get for inflatable hot tubs but the only thing included with the Coleman Hot tub is the chemical floater. If you want cup holders so you can have a drink while you’re soaking or if you feel the need for a headrest then you will have to purchase them separately. You can also buy lights to give added enjoyment if you like that kind of thing.
